Proud to be a Living Wage Employer

"We are thrilled to announce that we have been accredited as a Living Wage employer! We’re incredibly proud to join over 2,000 employers accredited by the Living Wage Foundation. The Foundation recognises and celebrates the leadership shown by accredited employers across the UK, and is run by Citizens UK. This means that we made the decision, voluntarily, to pay our employees a wage that reflects what we believe to be the true cost of living.

We introduced the Living Wage last December and it is something that our founder, Emma Killilea, feels very passionately about. “I made the decision to make Delicious Alchemy a Living Wage employer after seeing a presentation from the Trussell Trust, which revealed that 22% of people being referred to its food bank service were those on low incomes.

“The figure really shocked me, and made me determined to provide a fair wage to all my employees that enables them to enjoy a reasonable standard of living. Nobody should have to use a food bank, particularly those who are working.” The Living Wage is an hourly rate independently calculated by the Centre for Research in Social Policy at Loughborough University. It is reviewed each year, and is based on the basic cost of living using an agreed ‘standard minimum for the UK’.

This accreditation from the Foundation recognises our commitment to our employees, and to making Delicious Alchemy a great company to work for. The Living Wage Foundation’s Director, Sarah Vero, said: “The best employers are voluntarily signing up to pay the Living Wage now. The Living Wage is a robust calculation that reflects the real cost of living, rewarding a hard day’s work with a fair day’s pay.”   To find out more about The Living Wage and what the Foundation stands for, click here"
